The masseter is the powerful chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw. If it is strongly developed or permanently tense, it can cause two things: a wider-looking, angular face and severe strain from teeth grinding. Botulinum toxin (commonly known as Botox) in the masseter specifically reduces muscle tension without interfering with normal chewing function. With teeth grinding, the pressure on the teeth and jaw joint decreases; aesthetically, the jawline becomes narrower over several weeks, known as facial slimming. If the temporal muscle is also involved in the grinding, this is complemented by the Temporalis treatment, and both muscles are often combined.

Botulinum toxin in the masseter reduces the strength of muscle contraction, thus relieving the teeth and jaw joints. The relaxation usually becomes noticeable after five to ten days. In the case of pronounced bruxism, we adjust the treatment individually.
The narrower effect at the jawline usually appears after four to six weeks and is most noticeable after about two months, as the muscle volume slowly adjusts.
